Awesome little bike! Highly recommend

Kazam Balance Bike

Kazam Balance Bike

I had bought this for the holidays but just gave it to my son at 2 1/2 for something fun for us to do outside this fall and he LOVES it!!!! He also has a Kettler trike that was given to him as a gift, but he will not even attempt to pedal it. He will let me push him on it but won't even let me put his feet on the pedals. This Kazam bike is just adores!!!! He feels like a big kid on it. We have the seat at the lowest setting (he is a very tall 2.5 yo, more the size of a 3.5 year old), and in less than a month he can now lift his feet off the ground while coasting for a couple of seconds. His balance on the bike has greatly improved and we have to plead with him to put the bike away to come in for dinner. He can propel himself quite fast on it now and is beginning to balance independently. I anticipate this spring he will master the bike. I was looking for a gross motor activity for him this fall, and this bike has been a great way for him to burn off some energy - he has even made it entirely around the block on it! It has also taught him to steer, which has carried over to his other ride on type toys. I'm sure eventually he will pedal a bike, but he's not interested now, so the Kazam has been a great way for him to enjoy the bike experience. This was a wonderful purchase and I am so glad I didn't wait until the holidays to give it to him, as he would have had to wait many more months to enjoy it. I highly recommend this bike!!!!

  1. I bought this bike for my 2-year-old (almost three) and by the second day he had learned to keep his balance.

It's a very cool little bike and we're all amazed at how well he can ride it. I chose this bike because it was less expensive than similar bikes on the market. It also has a great little foot rest so they don't have to hold their legs up in the air while they ride.

I would prefer that the bike was lighter in weight but other than that I'm very impressed with it.

  2. I am the mother of fourteen children. I have tried all sorts of tricycles and bicycles over the years, from the Fisher Price, plastic trikes that my first four children used in their preschool days, to expensive bikes with clunky training wheels for my middle group of children. Those bikes offered an element of excitement as we never knew when the bike might suddenly tip over and crash. Once that happened in the middle of heavy traffic, and it took me a few days to recover from the panic.

Needless to say, when I saw a video of the Kazam bike, I knew we had to have one and give it a try. I can say with confidence that the Kazam bike is the best toy I have ever invested in for any of my children, oldest to youngest. It is so much fun to ride that the children wear themselves out gliding around the sidewalk and driveway on it. They are nice and tired come bedtime each night! The bicycle is small enough for a child that is short enough for his age but can be adjusted to fit a taller child. The joy in riding comes from knowing that one ISN'T going to crash, that if the slightest imbalance is achieved, one can just put his feet down and readjust. It gives children a feeling of control that they really need when attempting the new, difficult skill of riding a bike.

I used this bike for my last four children, and none of them needed "training" to ride a two wheel bicycle. They simply got on, tried working the pedals and ZOOOOOM! They were off! It was amazing! No more running down the sidewalk, holding onto the child's bike yelling, "Go ahead, I've got you!" only to have the child careen into a neighbors flower bed. The children hopped onto two wheel bicycles and took off. What a pleasure!

My youngest and very last child, Matthew, is learning to "Kazam" now, and he loves it. He feels like such a big boy riding his bike. I love to see him so happy and exercising away. Come bedtime, Matthew is nice and exhausted, protests about lying down to sleep. We take his Kazam with us to parks and playgrounds. It's small and lightweight and easily fits in the trunk of our car. It's portable fun at a reasonable price.

If I could only buy one toy for my young children, this is the one I would pick. Well worth every penny and made to last.

  3. Love this bike.... I can't believe we didn't get one sooner. We bought this for my 4 year old. I showed her a youtube video and she figured it out right away after watching another little girl ride. It's a great bike and I can't believe we started with training wheels instead of this bike. I easily think she will be riding a 2 wheel bike soon. I feel it's so much safer than a trike or training wheel bike also. She doesn't tip and she has greater control. The best part is, she LOVES it! She wants to ride it everywhere.

  4. We got this bike when my son was about to turn four. He quickly got the hang of balancing and this bike was his absolute favorite outdoor toy. He is now so good at balancing, in fact, that when we recently went to a friend's house who had a "regular bike" with no training wheels he was able to climb up and ride it with no problems in about 5 minutes! Last week I unfortunately bumped into the Kazam with the car and the entire back wheel got bent. I called Kazam's customer service and Elizabeth returned my call the same day and it turns out that spare parts are available and the bike can be fixed easily. Great customer service for a great toy-- I am fixing the Kazam for my next child to ride! Also, if you are considering the Kazam vs. the Strider bike, please note that this bike is larger (child will not grow out of as fast) and has a place for the child to put his feet while coasting (a big advantage). My son has ridden both and definitely prefers the Kazam-- recommend this product highly!

  6. We purchased the sturdy reasonably priced (it was $75 then) Kazam this summer for our 2 and a half year old. We decided to get this since he could not yet reach the pedals on his tricycle and was pushing it around. As soon as I had the bicycle put together (easy minimal assembly required), he was walking it around the house. Within the hour he was careening around corners and trying to put his feet up to coast. He has had a few crashes, but is easily able to right the bicycle himself and continue riding. Due to the low platform, he does not get tangled or stuck on the bike when he tips it over, avoiding injury. Our son loves it and wants to ride it every day. He has made a couple of rides greater than a mile without difficulty. My husband and I agree that this is the best gift we have bought for our son so far. We could not say enough good things about the Kazam balance bike.

Update: Our son is still loving this balance bike at three and a half and cannot wait to ride it each day. His year old bike still looks like new despite all the use. We liked this bike so much that we bought another as a gift for our niece.

  7. Can't say enough good things about this. It self-taught my 5 year old how to ride his two wheel bike within a few weeks of purchase. Not only that, but kids of all ages continue to like gliding on this regardless if they know how to balance on a two wheel bike or not. I did replace the seat that came with it with a slightly bigger one, since my kids are older. Build quality is great, very solid. Skip the training wheels (which don't train anything), get this bike right after the tricycle.
