Grip On 30282 Grip Safety Vest
Be seen and be safe! I wear this vest to run and bike in the dark and it is obvious that drivers can see me much better. The LEDs are nice and bright. You can adjust the blinking pattern or even make the lights stay on continuously. The vest also has broad reflective bands. The mesh fabric helps you to stay cool. The vest is designed to fit loosely, but does not move around too much while I am running. It does not interfere at all while I am on my bike. A velcro adjustment tab on each side lets the vest easily accommodate a wide range of body types and sizes and lets you get a custom fit. The vest is powered by a couple of AA batteries. Since the LEDs use such little power, the batteries will last a long time. My only complaint is that the on/off switch is a little hard to use and is a weak point in the vest's construction. I've used these vests for a few years and I am now on my second one. The first vest worked for about 1.5 years and then the lights went out. I think the little wires near the switch simply broke. But for the price, this is not such a big problem. Just be careful when you store it -- do not wad it up or put something heavy on top of it. Some reviewers may think that you will look dorky running in this vest, but I live in a college town and several students have said the vest is cool!
Update: Some other reviews talk about using this vest with a backpack, so maybe my experience will help you. I carry a backpack when commuting to work on my bike. I am a medium-sized, not fat or thin. I can wear the vest OVER my small backpack without changing its adjustment. I wear the vest UNDER my big packpack and have attached a blinking light to the big pack. Add some spokelits to you wheels are you are good to go!LED Adult / Youth Safety Bicycle Light by Nite Ize
We walk the dogs in the evening on streets with blind curves and hills. The yellow stripes are incredibly reflective and the flashing lights only draw more attention to us. We hear cars slowing down abruptly once they catch sight of us and plenty of joggers and bike riders have stopped us to ask where we got them. The velcro strips allow for expanding the vest to fit around a winter jacket.
BalasHapusI read several reviews on this product and there were mixed reports about the on/off switch. Now I understand why.
BalasHapusI ordered two vests and the material and workmanship seems very sturdy on both vests. BUT, the wiring and battery units were obviously assembled in different locations. One vest has a proper on/off switch on the battery box AND it has a hidden push-button switch that toggles between the flashing modes.
On the second vest the on/off switch on the battery pack has been bypassed. And the push-button is flatter and harder to fell, but works fine if you push hard enough. I contacted Grip-On and they explained that this is the new design since the second on/off switch was redundant. They were very helpful over the phone.
Bottom line, these vests are awesome. There is no way drivers could ignore you, day or night, with these beacons glaring.
The waist adjusts with three different velcro sections. I folded the back down, following the crease from the way the vest was folded in the box, and pinned it. Now it's short enough for my kids to wear (even if the waist is still too big).
I'm a bike commuter who works second shift. Some of the roads I ride have no sidewalks or street lights. I really, really want drivers to see me. This vest has been extremely effective. Turning on the lights was a bit tricky at first; the switch on the battery box has to be on before you can use the button on the outside of the vest. I'm not a thin woman, but it fits comfortably over my jacket (I had to get creative to fit it over a backpack). I feel a lot less invisible riding home.

Bought for a 125 mile bike tour that would require riding in the dark on country roads. Gave the assurance that we would be seen. Very visible, highly reflective. Lights worked great. Loose fit with adjustable waistband.
BalasHapusI really like this vest the batteries are standard not watch type so cheap to replace and they last a long time. My wife uses it walking the dog on rural roads without lights on them and she stands out great with the vest so cars don't have to shine lights on her to see her at night. Also a great thing during hunting season to be seen walking in the country side.
